Manage Images in the Content Manager

Images may be added as Content before they are used on a page within Web Open, but it is not required. Images may also be added as Content when a page is created.

 

Images may be added, viewed, edited, published and unpublished, and deleted from the Manage Content menu.

 

Important Note

  • Images have a maximum file size of 128 Megabytes (MB) and must be either .png, .jpg, or .jpeg files.
  • Updating an image in the Content Manager will update the image everywhere on a site.

Add an Image using Manage Content

  1. Sign in to your site
  2. From the dashboard, click Manage Content
    The button labeled Manage Content.
  3. Select the Images tab
    The tab labeled Images, under the Manage Content header.
  4. Click Add Image
    The URL labeled Add Image below the Displaying header.
  5. Complete the Image Fields
  6. Click on the Publishing tab
    The tab labeled Publishing in the left-hand navigation menu.
  7. Publish the Image
  8. Click Save

Edit an Image

  1. Sign in to your site
  2. Search for the Image
  3. Click Edit

  4. Edit some or all of the Image Fields
  5. Select the Revisions tab
    The tab labeled Revisions in the left-hand navigation menu.
  6. Type any information about the edits made, if desired
    The text entry field labeled Revision log message.
  7. Publish or Unpublish the Image as desired
  8. Click Save

Publish or Unpublish an Image

Unpublishing an image keeps the full history of the page, which can be helpful for record retention purposes.

 

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your site
  2. Search for the Image
  3. Click edit

  4. Select the Publishing tab
    The tab labeled Publishing in the left-hand navigation menu.
    Note: To see unpublished items, the Published drop-down must be set to False
  5. Check or uncheck the box to publish or unpublish the image respectively
    The checkbox to the left of the word Published.
    Note: The image must be published to appear on a page
  6. Select the Revisions tab
    The tab labeled Revisions in the left-hand navigation menu.
  7. Type any information about publishing or unpublishing, if desired
    The text entry field labeled Revision log message.
  8. Click Save
    The green save button at the end of the left-hand navigation tabs.

Delete an Image

Only Site Admins can delete content. We discourage the deletion of content and instead, advise that content be unpublished if it is no longer relevant. Please be advised that deletion is permanent.

Image Fields

The text entry fields and microsite drop-down menu present in the Main Content tab.

  • Name: Enter the name of the image
  • Microsite: Select the appropriate microsite
  • Image: The image being added
  • Choose File: Select the file to upload
    Note: The Choose File button will only appear if there is no image file attached
  • Alternative Text Short description of the image used by screen readers and displayed when the image is not loaded
  • Remove: Remove the Image file listed
    Note: The Remove button will only appear if there is an image file attached
