Hello,
We are reaching out today to share a status update on the Drupal 7 (D7) migration process and a detailed update on next steps.
In our last communications, we shared that Drupal announced D7 would be sunset on 1/5/2025—meaning that without any intervention, all customers hosted on Drupal 7 would need to be migrated to a Drupal 10 or later environment by that date. In order to extend that time horizon for our customers, we partnered with a secondary provider to ensure a continued stable, up-to-date, and secure website. While this alleviated the pressure of the 1/5/2025 sunset date for our customers, it was never intended as a final resolution. As you know, we have been working to develop a just-right Drupal 10 solution based on the needs and input of our customers and have been in the process of migrating customers from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10.
Since our most recent communication, we have learned:
- Drupal 7 will also cease to be supported by our secondary hosting partner by November 2025. We have again taken steps through that partnership to ensure your site will remain live and secure beyond that date. However, this only underscores the urgency we already felt to ensure we move your team to a long-term solution.
- Based on extensive customer feedback, the Drupal 10 product that’s been developed isn’t the just-right solution we’d aimed to create. And while that isn’t the update we wanted to share today, our top priority is to move you to a website solution that truly meets your needs—not just one that is stable and supported. And with that as our goal, it became clear to our team that we needed to change our plan.
For this reason, we are excited to share that your site is slated to move to Central Starter. Central Starter is a package of the top 12 modules from our Web Central solution—our proven, core website offering—providing a more targeted set of functionality that's perfect for smaller teams. Central Starter enables teams of any size to launch and manage a world-class website that puts information, resources, and services at the fingertips of their residents.
