Why did CivicPlus upgrade to a new Drupal website product?
Drupal is ending life for version 7 in January 2025, so we upgraded to version 9 with a new enhanced product for our customers called Web Open. The next version, Drupal 10 was released in the meantime, and we will upgrade all users to the most recent version at the time of their migration.
Why does Drupal keep changing versions and what does that mean?
Drupal 7 was the last version using an old model that required major rebuilds to move to the next version. Drupal 8, 9, 10, and future versions are all using a model that makes it easier to upgrade existing sites.
Do we have to migrate our website to the newest version of Drupal?
Yes, all customers currently using Drupal 7 such as Municode Web or CivicEngage Open will need to be migrated before the Drupal 7 End of Life on January 5, 2025. That means that there will no longer be Drupal 7 support or security updates beyond that date.
What additional benefits do I get from integrating CivicPlus products and tools that can be used with the new Web Open version 10 product?
